I Wrote the Book on Trucking Accident Law

Truck Accident Book I am honored that West Thompson—the world’s largest publisher of legal books—asked me to write this multi-volume book on truck accident law in 2004. I had already begun the project for my own reference. My book includes the federal regulations that are the same in each state for interstate tractor-trailer crashes, as well as state law that differs in areas, like whether there are monetary limits or “caps” in the lawsuit, whether you can receive punitive damages, and the varying technical requirements for filing a lawsuit.

I have handled cases across the country. I am licensed in several states, and have local counsel in many states who I trust and work with closely. Select your state to learn more:

If you've suffered catastrophic injuries in a truck accident in Nevada, add Michael to your team of lawyers to ensure that your rights are protected. Every year in Nevada, more than 500 accidents involving trucks and other large commercial vehicles leave hundreds of people suffering from injury or loss of life. Whether on the busy stretches of Interstate 15 near Las Vegas, on Interstate 80 around Reno, or on any of the thousands of miles of two-lane highways that stretch across the desert, truck traffic is a daily concern for motorists throughout Nevada. If you or a family member has been severely injured as a result of an accident with a commercial vehicle, Michael can provide legal representation that adds years of truck accident litigation experience to your side.

Speaking Engagements

Trucking Laws

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (Title 49, Parts 350-399) govern all vehicles engaged in interstate traffic.

There are some situations where a tractor-trailer or other commercial motor vehicle is involved in only intrastate travel. For example, an appliance store in Reno may own a truck that only makes in-state deliveries.

The [STATE] Department of Public Safety has adopted Title 49, Parts 382, 383, 384, 390, 391, 392, 393, 394, 395, 396, 397, 398, and 399 of the federal regulations.

Interstate 15:  Within Nevada, I-15 is contained entirely within Clark County. Beginning in Primm, it has the distinction of being the only Interstate highway to service the city of Las Vegas.

Interstate 80:  A 2,899.54-mile behemoth, I-80 stretches from San Francisco to New Jersey crossing Nevada in the northern part of the state. It serves the Reno-Sparks urban area and in other parts of the state follows historical routes of the California Trail and the First Transcontinental Railroad.
