For Lawyers and Co-Counsel For Truck Accident Victims Why Michael Leizerman

Colorado

Attorney Michael Leizerman is no ordinary lawyer. He has dedicated his career to better understanding the trucking industry as a whole, to advocating for higher safety standards on our roads, and to helping victims who are suffering as a result of a truck accident. To more thoroughly understand what truck drivers endure in their profession, Michael even obtained his commercial driver's license.

After more than 17 years of protecting the rights of truck accident victims, Michael has become a national authority on truck accident litigation, authoring the three-volume treatise "AAJ's Litigating Truck Accident Cases." His efforts to protect truck accident victims have extended to courtrooms across the country, either as lead counsel or while helping local counsel develop an effective trial strategy that leads to higher settlement amounts for truck accident victims and their families.

I Wrote the Book on Trucking Accident Law

Truck Accident Book I am honored that West Thompson—the world’s largest publisher of legal books—asked me to write this multi-volume book on truck accident law in 2004. I had already begun the project for my own reference. My book includes the federal regulations that are the same in each state for interstate tractor-trailer crashes, as well as state law that differs in areas, like whether there are monetary limits or “caps” in the lawsuit, whether you can receive punitive damages, and the varying technical requirements for filing a lawsuit.

I have handled cases across the country. I am licensed in several states, and have local counsel in many states who I trust and work with closely. Select your state to learn more:

Colorado boasts hundreds of miles of often treacherous interstate highways that rise and fall through the Rockie Mountains. Interstate 25, Interstate 70 and Interstate 76 all carry truck traffic into and out of Denver, while other urban centers such as Colorado Springs and Fort Collins attract steady truck traffic as well. More than 1,200 fatal and non-fatal truck accidents occur on Colorado roadways every year, leaving hundreds of people injured or killed. If you or a family member has been involved in a catastrophic truck accident, ensure you have legal representation that truly understands truck accident litigation. Michael can work with Colorado attorneys to ensure that you receive the compensation you deserve for your suffering.

Trucking Laws

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (Title 49, Parts 350-399) govern all vehicles engaged in interstate traffic.

There are some situations where a tractor-trailer or other commercial motor vehicle is involved in only intrastate travel. For example, an appliance store in Boulder may own a truck that only makes in-state deliveries.

The Colorado Department of Public Safety has adopted Title 49, Parts 382, 383, 384, 390, 391, 392, 393, 394, 395, 396, 397, 398, and 399 of the federal regulations.
