US 501 Truck Accident Injures Driver
According to Virginia State Police, on Thursday, December 6, 2007 around 5:30pm, a tractor trailer crashed down an embankment in Bedford County near Big Island.
The truck driver was traveling north on US 501 when he sideswiped a car that was traveling south.
According to the driver of the smaller vehicle, the truck drove over the embankment after it collided with his car.
US 501 was closed going both directions for several hours.
The truck driver was flown to Lynchburg General Hospital with serious injuries.
