Truck Driver in Critical Condition After Fiery Crash
A 36 year old truck driver has suffered critical burns from a fiery crash that occured after his and another truck collided on the northbound lands of I-5 on October 9, 2007.
According to the Santa Ana Police Department, the driver was trapped inside the truck when the fire broke out. 5 people, including 2 police officers, a nurse, and the other truck driver, tried to help the trapped man as the fire grew.
The reports show that the man was trapped by his clothing, and the rescuers could not free him. During the attempted rescue, the truck was still in gear and slowing moving down the road.
Once the fire burned his clothing, he was able to free himself from the fiery truck cabin. He is currently suffering burns to the lower half of his body.
